The ask
Starbird Chicken had a clear vision: a fast-casual restaurant brand built around quality ingredients, technology, and a Bay Area sensibility that didn’t take itself too seriously. What Starbird lacked was a digital presence that reflected it. The Culinary Edge, its parent company at the time, partnered with us to relaunch the site.

Restaurant websites can appear simple. In practice, a growing brand introduces complexity — multiple locations, evolving sub-brands, and a developing franchise model.
The platform needed to accommodate that growth without constant redesign. If it were too rigid, it would break under expansion — too open, and it would lose coherence.
At the same time, the site had to translate a physical experience into a digital one. Starbird’s restaurants carry a distinct energy. The challenge was capturing that feeling without relying on convention.

We built the platform on Webflow, prioritizing speed, flexibility, and long-term maintainability. From kickoff to launch, the timeline was five months. The design drew from the restaurant environment — not literally, but as a system of cues. Color, texture, and pacing informed the layouts, creating a digital experience that felt consistent with the brand without overstatement.
The underlying architecture was designed to evolve. When Starbird launched a franchise initiative, we built it out as a standalone site, then migrated it cleanly into the main site as the program matured. That kind of evolution doesn’t happen without a solid foundation.
Thanks to the groundwork we laid, our partnership with Starbird continues to evolve with all its initiatives.
